Several have strong backgrounds in healthcare, with experience across sectors as providers, consultants, and executives. In addition, a majority of the Board’s members are active MobileMed patients.

Peter Lowet has been the Executive Director of MobileMed since 2011. During his tenure, MobileMed has focused on enhancing its chronic disease management capabilities, integrating behavioral health services, transitioning to an electronic health record, and expanding to serve Medicaid as well as uninsured patients. Under his leadership, MobileMed was awarded designation as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC).

Mr. Lowet has extensive experience in healthcare partnerships, strategic and operational consulting, and quality improvement. He previously worked at the National Council on Aging, where he was Vice President of Strategy and Organizational Transformation. Prior to NCOA, Mr. Lowet served as the Director of Business Development at the NYU Langone Medical Center, where he managed the assessment, planning and implementation of new strategic initiatives.  He has also worked as the Corporate Director of Business and System Development at MedStar Health and as Associate Hospital Administrator for Clinical Resource Management at Georgetown University Hospital. Mr. Lowet has a Master’s degree in Public and Private Management from the Yale School of Management.

Stephen Wiggins, MD, joined MobileMed as its Medical Director in 2017. Dr. Wiggins is Board-certified in Family Medicine and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians.  Dr. Wiggins operated a private practice for over 30 years with significant clinical oversight responsibilities. From 2013 to 2016 he was a site Medical Director for MedStar Medical Group. He has also been a Clinical Instructor at Georgetown University Medical Center and a clinical preceptor for the Anne Arundel Community College Physician Assistant Program. His breadth and depth of experience enables him to offer valuable mentoring, consultative support and education for MobileMed’s staff and volunteer providers.

Kathleen Luton, RN, MSN, CRNP is MobileMed’s Clinical Director with over thirty years of experience in the healthcare field. Ms. Luton has clinical experience as a Registered Nurse and a Board Certified Adult Nurse Practitioner, as well as a strong management background in occupational health, including urgent care and worker’s compensation. She has held clinic management positions at Washington Hospital Center, Baltimore Washington Medical Center and McCormick & Company. Previously, she was the co-owner of AlternaCARE, PC Occupational Health which served 200 companies in Prince George’s County. Ms. Luton has taught Nurse Practitioner students as an adjunct faculty member at Catholic University and University of Virginia (Falls Church Campus), and has published in Nursing Connections and the AORN Journal. She is currently a clinical preceptor at Georgetown, Frostburg, University of Maryland, Kaplan and Walden Universities. Her background in patient safety, electronic health records, health and wellness, and operational management is a great asset to MobileMed.

Nurifah Muhamad, MobileMed’s Director of Finance and Administration, has an extensive finance and accounting background. Prior to MobileMed, she worked for ten years in controller and manager roles, most recently as an outsource contractor with clients in multiple industries. Ms. Muhamad has an MS in Business and Management from the University of Maryland’s Smith School of Business.
