The culturally diverse staff at MobileMed are smart, creative and committed to excellence. They come from many countries around the world and are conversant in multiple languages including Amharic, Cantonese, English, Farsi, French, French Creole, German, Kinyarwanda, Krio, Mandarin, Portuguese, Spanish, Swajili, Tagalog, Wollof.
Clever and creative, the staff is always busy. In addition to providing much needed health care services, the staff produces various multilingual education materials; maintains a centralized credentialing system that ensures that health care providers’ credentials, education and training are up to date; implements strategies for improving patent care and patient experience; develops strategies to expand MobileMed’s training, orientation and overall support programs for volunteers; and, participates in ongoing peer review to ensure compliance with policy and best practices.
Founded by volunteers, MobileMed maintains a rich tradition of volunteerism. In addition to working at clinics, volunteers serve as clinic registrars, participate on numerous oversight and planning committees, provide financial support and assist in all areas of the agency’s operation. MobileMed staff, both paid and volunteer, work together to provide the best health care possible to MobileMed’s patients and receive specialized training and education. All staff, paid and volunteer alike, participate in ongoing cultural competency training using a variety of resources including the Cultural Competency Manual developed by senior MobileMed staff. The handbook, and the training, continues to be a useful tool in MobileMed’s efforts to ensure that its services are delivered in a culturally competent manner.
